Can anybody share his experience with online leak sealing technique? who are the renowned vendors whose injectors / sealants are successful in petro-chemical plants for maintenance practices? guidelines / calculations for clamp / box-up designing? any code reference?
Thanks in anticipation of any comment / advise.

Online sealing technique, as per my experience is very common especially for flange-to-flange leakages. Here is the step wise process:
1. A cold clamp is designed in two pieces considering the design pressure and design temperature of line
2. Clamp contains internal grooves (two) which come on flange body (either sides)
3. Grooves are for sealing; rope like gasket is placed inside
4. Clamp is joined by two bolted plates at their ends
5. After mounting the clamp, a sealant / injector is injected at 1.2 - 1.5 times of operating pressure.
Regarding injector / sealant, Furmanite is the most common source being used in petrochemical industry offering many sealant types. See
www.furmanite.com.
Hope this would help.
Feel free to ask any further questions.

Dear Ashfak,
Thank you for assistance and sharing step-by-step general procedure. Furmanite has come to know the pioneer of the subject technique. I also contacted them and requested for details of their specific products. Meanwhile, would you please comment on last two parts of my parent question i.e. guidelines for cold clamp (box-up) designing? any code reference?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Just to have a diagrammatic understanding of my previous reply, follow the link below:

Also find the attached image of an in-situ installed clamp.
I know few of the guidelines for designing such clamps but do not have the code reference may be in ASME PCC-2, not sure.
Hope this would help.

Thank you for referring to some more details.
I am pleased to share with the forum that ASME PCC-2 (ASME Post Construction Committee - Repair & Testing of Pressure Equipment and Piping) is found to be the true code reference for guidelines in the subject matter. Section 2 & Section 3 of this ASME PCC-2 (2009 edition) are specifically for "Welded Repairs & Mechanical Repairs".
