Painting / Coating Problem

One of the common but ignored problem during painting and coating of pipelines is the welded area. More smooth, finish the capping of weld joints would be, more effective would be the painting application.
Apparently this problem seems to be very small but in actual where severe atmospheric / climatic conditions exist, piping at its weld joints fall short in mechanical integrity checks due to excessive atmospheric corrosion at weld joints over a certain period of time.
