POSITION DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
ENGINEER II
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods,
techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in
making adaptations and modifications. Performs assignments, which have
clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited
number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global
business unit.
Understands the basic discipline work processes.
Performs engineering tasks, within a discipline, having a minor degree
of complexity.
Participates in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data from
suppliers.
Familiar with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design
standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
Position Duties/Responsibilities
A range of positions exist for suitably qualified and experienced
mechanical engineers.
Mechanical engineers will be responsible for design, specification,
selection, award and design management of mechanical equipment for
refineries, gas treatment plants and petro-chemical plants. Mechanical
equipment encompasses a diverse range of equipment including pressure
vessels, fired and un-fired heat transfer equipment, rotating equipment
and packaged equipment. Mechanical engineers will participate in all
aspects of equipment specification and procurement from initial
feasibility and conceptual studies, through detailed engineering and in
to the field.
Responsible for the following:
Ability to analyse the requirements of a system and accordingly make
recommendations for the selection and design of the equipment.
Develop specifications and issue of Material Requisitions for all types
of equipment.
Bid evaluation and selection of suppliers.
Post award management of suppliers including document review, inspection
at their works, chair progress meetings and liaison with design groups.
Ability to complete site surveys for existing equipment and undertake
assessment work of existing equipment for re-vamp and debottlenecking.
Ability to work as part of a team in a project environment.
Successful candidates will have relevant experience, an understanding of
the role of international codes and standards and are likely to be
developing a bias towards either static or rotating equipment.
Position Skills:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate qualification and
experience
Actively working towards Chartered status
