API 572 describes the inspection of grounding connections and recommend no break in the circuit.
It also recommends a test on the system to see that the resistance to ground does not exceed the acceptable values in the area. Recommended resistance is 5 ohms or less, and resistance is not to exceed 25 ohms.
How this check is required to be ensured when performing inspection of pressure vessels? Should this be part of external inspection when that is done?
Grounding connections inspection
Re: Grounding connections inspection
Yes, inspection of grounding connections for pressure vessels is part of external inspection for pressure vessels or when we plan for complete internal inspection.
The cables are checked for their connections, tightly fixed with no damages or disengagements.
During regular area rounds also, such grounding connections are checked for any issues.
However, resistance to ground is what I am not sure we have been checking.
