Dead loads on pressure vessels
Dead loads on pressure vessels
What sort of dead loads are considered while we design the pressure vessels?
Re: Dead loads on pressure vessels
There are primarily three categories of dead loads on pressure vessels:
1. Erection (empty) load - without any installation of external insulation, fireproofing, external components like structures, piping etc.
2. Operating dead load - it is full operation load of the vessel including installed insulation, fireproofing, all internals, with operating liquid, structural components attached
3. Shop test dead load - weight of the vessel shell after all welding is finished, filled with test liquid
There is another as well which is field test dead load which is weight without external or internal insulation removed for inspection and testing purposes.
