What are the major applications of P5 alloy in petrochemicals industries?
Which piping system normally they are particularly used in?

Mainly used to transport hydrocarbons, gases, and other fluids at elevated temperatures and pressures. For heat exchangers, utilized in shell and tube configurations and furnace components where materials must resist thermal cycling and heat.
It is essential for handling processes that are subject to heavy scaling, hydrogen attack, and sulfidation.
Utilization in furnace & coker heater tubes, Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU) risers where standard carbon steels would degrade.
Also in vacuum distillation transfer lines which transports highly volatile, extremely hot petrochemical outputs in refining trains.

Typical services include:
Radiant coil outlet piping
Convection section piping
Transfer lines from fired heaters
Hot hydrocarbon piping
High-temperature steam pip
ing
Typical operating temperature:
450–650°C
Can be used higher depending on design code and stress calculations.

P5 is considered a very important Cr-Mo alloy for high-temperature piping. It fills the gap between carbon steel (which lacks adequate high-temperature performance) and higher-alloy Cr-Mo materials such as P9 (9Cr-1Mo) or P91 (9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb), which are chosen when even greater creep strength and oxidation resistance are required.

Thank you.
I was thinking about the same.
