Grounding brushes are installed on Turbomachinery (Compressors and turbines) to dissipate any accumulated electrostatic charges from the rotors which usually accumulate due to interaction of rotor with high speed fluids. If not dissipated properly these charges create their path through the couplings / bearings damaging both. The phenomenon which occurs in bearings due to elctrostatic charges is called frosting in which bearing is usually found eroded with whitish colour.
