How A-number is different than F-number?
Weld metal analysis has been classified in the form of A-numbers which is an essential variable for WPS with SMAW / GTAW processes. It is different from F-number in a sense that F-number is mainly a representative of ease of use of a specific welding rod but A-number represents as-welded chemical composition. Refer to ASME Sec. IX QW-442 for A-numbers listing.
