What are the typical occupational safety KPIs and how those should be reported on regular basis?

A lot many are measured by HSE;
Lost-time injury
LTIF / LTIR
Total recordable cases TRC / TRIR
DART, Days Away, Restricted, Transfer
Severity, Lost Days /Severity Rate
First aid cases
Medical treatment cases
Near misses
High-potential incidents
Unsafe acts/conditions
Safety inspections
Corrective actions

ISO 45004:2024 is the right reference here which explicitly distinguishes lagging indicators, which relate to past performance, from leading indicators, which relate to factors that can influence future performance.
There can be a structure prepared to report, monitor and improve occupational safety KPIs.

A practical KPI pyramid would be looking like the one containing:

OUTCOME
→ Fatality
→ LTI
→ TRIR/LTIF
→ Severity

EVENT POTENTIAL
→ HiPo incidents
→ Near misses
→ Unsafe acts/conditions

CONTROL EFFECTIVENESS
→ PTW/JSA
→ Inspections
→ Training
→ Risk assessments
→ Corrective actions
→ Emergency drills

MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
→ Audits
→ Competency
→ Worker participation
→ Safety leadership
→ Repeat finding elimination
