Pearson Technique Equipment Transmitter
What sort of equipment transmitter is normally used to perform pearson survey?
Re: Pearson Technique Equipment Transmitter
Frequencies are like:
~1,000 Hz (or around 98Hz–1kHz depending on the equipment manufacturer and soil conditions) is commonly used for pipelines with thicker or older coatings.
~175 Hz to 200 Hz is frequently used for newer, thin-film coatings (such as Fusion Bonded Epoxy - FBE) to minimize signal loss and capacitive coupling into the surrounding soil.
Power Output: Typically ranges from a few watts up to several tens of watts, depending on the length of the pipeline section being tested and soil resistivity.

NACE TM0109-2009 in Para 5.2 describes the equipment to be sued. The transmitter provides an AC signal of approximately 1000 Hz for thick-film pipeline coatings including enamel, tape, extruded coating etc. and a reduced frequency of 175 Hz for thin-film coating including fusion bonded powder, epoxy etc. The transmitter is generally powered from internal batteries, or for long surveys, from an external high-capacity battery.
