Generation of AI based Written Schemes of Inspection

Post by novice123 »

How good is the idea of generating AI based written scheme of inspections for all pressure equipment at site just to ensure that nothing is missed by a beginner or a professional inspector on duty? Provided complete details are provided with existing reference of established written schemes.

That is a good idea to use AI on enhancing existing written scheme of inspection however, care has to be taken on the content which is created.
Inspection written schemes are required to be based upon inspection plans normally created from RBI, and each new inspection depends upon what was picked during the previous inspection. Variables including any change in process parameters, recent changes made also contribute. Written scheme gets to be a running documents which requires as update each time an inspection is performed even without changes, but a review is required.
How & which AI would appropriately do this considering all variables in the process should be taken up as a mini project to verify first through the established algorithms.

If you are starting to do a bulk work of generating written schemes then I would be with you to do that using AI and the kind of formatting and other possibilities, that would be a very good choice to save a lot of time. However, considering the update on existing ones, limit the use of AI. Make sure all of the involved parties agree to that especially your Plan Generator, RBI Engineer.

Using AI is a good idea but the kind of checks & controls would still remain the same.
We were converting some of our procedures to graphical interactive flowcharts, infographics, and other mind map details but the kind of reviews have been kept as same. Rather, while reviewing some of the documents, I felt that I had to make more checks as AI brought in some innovation, not needed or inaccurate.

I do not think most of my friends truly agree to the concept of generating AI based written schemes of inspection however with strict review & control in place, we felt a lot of time can be saved especially when a new facility is under question. What we did was establishing a protocol, two-page procedure on running development of inspection written schemes using an AI agent. That was provided with all the data which is needed to be considered when generating the final scheme. Procedure was reviewed, and approved by our Inspection Superintendent. There was a mention of creating, and testing & AI to make sure required results are achieved. 5 samples were initially reviewed when we started developing for simpler pressure vessel (heat exchangers after). The case was very well received by our technical authorities as well enabling us generating the schemes. All in all, a very good case study where we produced some 300+ written schemes of inspection, all controlled, and reviewed.

Do share if you can, any sample written scheme developed through the help of AI
