Oxygen content - Welding SS for Highly Corrosive Service

Post by Dlew »

Any limits on oxygen content before welding stainless steel to be put in highly corrosive service like ammonium carbonate?
If yes, then what are the available references to follow?

Ammonium carbonate / carbamate type services are typically treated as highly aggressive in many plants, so it’s reasonable to set 50 ppm as your hard “go/no-go” before welding, not just “try to.” (Final acceptance should still be based on your corrosion / NDE / spec requirements.)
Look for something even more specific in OEM manuals for welding of materials in these services. Even closer recommendations, you can find there.
What are the materials you have been using?
