You might be aware of a new project at hand with PetroStreet Drive, ClampOX (https://www.clampOX.com) focusing on temporary repairs engineering for engineers working in operating process industries.
Initiating this post to have your remarks on existing gaps in our Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Unit Operators in performing engineering of temporary repairs applied on leaking pressure containments.
All inputs are welcome.

Interesting that there would be standalone solution to engineer the temporary repairs. What happens is that on non-critical services, in-house solutions are directly applied with not much of a track. We get maintenance onboard, inform Operations, and accordingly apply the temporary repair be it a clamp, or a non-metallic application of any compound good to arrest the leak. Beyond this, we have engaged a vendor to take care of our needs as they arise, be it a steam leak, or any other critical service. They themselves have limitations. For example, the response is still with the site team once the leak is detected. We go with other teams to inspect, and report the severity, and issue some sort of a temporary repair which can be applied. However, like I said before, if that is some critical application, support engineering work to contain the pressure, temperature, and other process fluid properties (material) considerations are yet to be taken care by vendor.
So I understand the gap within the site team's capabilities to engineer a temporary solution does exist, and if they are reinforced with such an in-house solution with some basic training, maintenance can also be involved to enhance their skills to fabricate the designed part within the site.

Actually, you must make it. I am telling you honestly that the Operations sites do not have such a tool available with them which can govern all the temporary repairs. I would recommend that you do not restrict this only to engineer the temporary repairs but also to manage, keep, update the data as well. As an end user, this would be something directly helping, and assuring our teams on the performance. We have seen leaking, failing temporary repairs as well, so to have a tool in place taking care of the basic engineering and providing us with the management tools also would greatly help.

I do not think that there has been much done about this at operating units what you have been pointing to.
Yes, a lot of works on Consultant end, Service providers arranged through annual contracts or the like of them.
Providing such engineering control to site would be something new, as what I have understood from my colleagues.
A certain company or another is always on contract to handle such requirements as and when they arise. And yes they do arise. And they arise multiple times in a year, sometimes in a month.
All so critical to see as management part has still been with site likewise for all other activities no matter what dependency site has on external support.

This solution is needed, and I do not think that anybody would disagree that current control is less with the sites engineering, installing, and managing.
Starting from steam condensate service, hazard gets involved alleviating the criticality of the temporary repair to be engineered, and designed.
Most of the operating plants have got external parties linked to do this part, engineering & installing also but what about the management part. I would like to know what basic coverage would be provided in this solution to manage the temporary repairs at sites.
My take on this part would be a simple to use dashboard with initial preload data related to the site including the following:
1. Plant
2. Site
3. Services (listing of all critical services at site)
Beyond this, data showing specific details:
a. No. of temporary repairs installed (since when data is available)
b. Active temporary repairs
c. Normalized ones
d. Repeated cases
e. Risk rating of each case (based upon criticality of the service)
f. Install date
g. Inspection frequency
h. Last inspection date
i. Next inspection date
j. Summary from last inspection
k. Abnormality reported during last inspection
l. Data analysis (high level site summary)
