In what circumstances, pump shaft repair is not recommended to perform?
What are the variables to be considered before applying any sort of repair on pump shaft?

Re: Pump shaft repair
See in case the wear or corrosion has reduced shaft diameter beyond allowable machining limits, you should not be going for repair.
Usually, the scoring depth exceeding 10–15% of shaft diameter (varies by OEM) should also be considered for replacement only.
In these circumstances, the shaft cannot maintain required concentricity and straightness after machining.

Re: Pump shaft repair
We would normally be saying no to a crack repair.
No to any shaft sensitive to welding repair including those materials which may have got their microstructure altered, just like in case of duplex stainless steel.
We would be very careful with cases where a very tight tolerance is needed.
No to those which we repaired before as well.

Thank you for all these comments.
Talking about the materials, which can be considered for repair generally?

Looking for the inputs on materials.
