I assume you want to know which is more stringent API 650 or 620?

Overall I would say 620 is more stringent than 650 but you cannot use 650 in place of 620 if your tank falls under 620 scope.
Please read the scope and applicapability of both standards, that is a must.
Can I go to 650? Can I go to 620? Scope will tell you.
If I do not understand your question, please let me know.
Now I will quote the wording of a forum fellow (at some other forum)
"A question properly stated is a question half solved"

Designing a tank needs few basic parameters to be defined prior to selection of the code.
A brief description of the scope of both the codes is as under:
API 650 620.gif
Please consider temperature last digit as degree, it's a typo error.

Hope reply would be satisfactory to your query.

Thank you so much for the understanding as I was not familiar with either of these standards.

This clears things up immensely!

Again thank you!
