Welding of T/P-23

Post by ashfaqanwer »

On the behalf of our forum member, Inconel.

Dear All,
Design Code: ASME BPVC SEC I
Welding Code: ASME BPVC SEC IX

I need your help. What are the precautions I have to take during fabrication of T/P 23&T/P 24 materials? What would be the matching welding consumable for T/P23 &T/P 24.Preheat and PWHT required or not? It will be highly appreciated, if forum members could share their experience on these materials.

Thanks in advance.

We have used E9015 and ER90S-G for the welding of T/P-23 and T/P-24 with good results.
Pre-heating performed at 200 deg C and interpass must be maintained at 200-250 deg C.
We did PWHT at 740 deg C for 02 hours.

Fabrication guidelines for P23 & P24 are the same as you might have handled P22, the more common alloy.
What is the joint type and thickness?
