What is the basic difference between HAZOP and PHA?
Please explain with some examples.

Although I am not a safety guy, but what I know is that:
- PHA is a General term for Analysis / Exercise and HAZOP is a Specific term for Technique / Method
- HAZOP comes under the umbrella of PHA
- HAZOP, FMEA & What-If Checklist are the three common tools / techniques to conduct PHA
- Example being: Fishbone is carried out to perform RCA (HAZOP is like fishbone & PHA is like RCA)

PHA (process hazards analysis) is a term referring to the study of analyzing all associated hazards of a specific process/facility. It comprises of both "Process Safety Management Systems" and "Risk Management Programs". Whereas HAZOP (HAZard and OPerability analysis) is a qualitative technique, used to execute a PHA. In simple words, HAZOP is a method to analyze risks and hazards associated to a process (PHA).
