QRA of country wide pipelines
QRA of country wide pipelines
QRA (Quantitative Risk Analysis) studies are one of the most important prerequisite of projects involving high risks. Some engineering firms offer paid services to conduct QRA and propose valid recommendations against such project scope. If anyone of you guys did such evaluations, do recommend me what software or methods available.
Re: QRA of country wide pipelines
qasim, I personally worked with a freeware available named ALOHA. It a good software for dispersion, explosion and fire modeling. But it lacks in GUI and discrete information regarding QRA. It can be downloaded from following link;
http://www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo/aloha.htm
Anyhow, Shell FRED (Fire, Release, Explosion, Dispersion) is a commercially available software system which models the consequences of a release of product, both accidental and intentional.

Above mentioned download link has been changed as follows;
http://www.epa.gov/emergencies/content/cameo/aloha.htm
Aloha is part of Cameo software suit. It is used widely to plan for and respond to chemical emergencies. It is one of the tools developed by EPA’s Office of Emergency Management to assist front-line chemical emergency planners and responders. Visit them at following;

Re: QRA of country wide pipelines
I second you guys, but qasim if you want to do it yourself you can use following references for fire and flare radiation impacts;
API-RP-521 "Guide for Pressure Relieving and Depressuring Systems"
API-931 "Manual on Disposal of Refinery Wastes"
GPSA Engineering Data Book.
Hope this may help you.
