Re: Amine Stress Corrosion Cracking

Yes. Once ASCC is confirmed, the damage mechanism review should encompass the entire amine circuit, including:
All carbon steel piping in lean and rich amine service.
Pressure vessels (absorbers, regenerators, flash drums, accumulators).
Heat exchangers handling amine.
Pump and valve welds.
Small ...

Re: Welding DSS

One of the most common real-world failures occurs when pipe fit-up takes longer than expected and the root purge is stopped too early. The weld may pass radiography because it has no volumetric defects, but the oxidized root can later become the initiation point for pitting corrosion and premature ...

Re: Inspection of storage tanks

Reading out API 650 & 620 should be the start to understand about storage tank design.
You move directly to API 653 after that.

Re: Major applications of P5 alloy

Thank you.
I was thinking about the same.

P5 is considered a very important Cr-Mo alloy for high-temperature piping. It fills the gap between carbon steel (which lacks adequate high-temperature performance) and higher-alloy Cr-Mo materials such as P9 (9Cr-1Mo) or P91 (9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb), which are ...

Re: Recurring Tube Leakages

My experience says that recurring leaks are frequently the result of multiple contributing causes rather than a single failure mechanism.
A structured root cause analysis that combines inspection findings, operating history, chemistry data, and mechanical design review is the most effective way to ...

Re: PSV Failing in Service @ Lower than Set Pressure

We have checked the vibrations - negative.
Transportation issues - not any we could know.
Same team inspecting and certifying- no, a different technician and inspector involved each time.
Once received at workshop after reported lifting at lower pressure, it failed the bench test as well.
