Believe me this is something which stays in your mind.
What a way to learn and retain.

Bellows failure

What are the major reasons of frequent bellows failures in a pressure safety valve?
We observed an increase of failures recently and probing into this.

Re: Under Deposit Corrosion Propagation

We have been discussing to get these conditions defined within IOW program to make sure there is no uDC happening.
Minimum velocity, water dewpoint margins, salt deposition temperatures, and fouling tedency play important role here.
Otherwise, it stays a reactive finding upon inspection that there ...

Reliability Performance Indicators - Pressure Safety Valves

What should be the reliability performance indicators for pressure safety valves?
How the testing data should be assessed to get meaningful indicators which should further be analyzed?
One valve failing in pop, other in reseat, another with backpressure test failed.

Re: TMLs Selection for High Pressure Piping

ASME does have a separate section K on high pressure piping however such exclusivity is not available in API 570 when it comes to inspection.
I am not very well familiar with EU codes on this.
All we may need to consider is the areas where there is more turbulence, erosion-corrosion. Elbows, bends ...

Re: Generation of AI based Written Schemes of Inspection

I do not think most of my friends truly agree to the concept of generating AI based written schemes of inspection however with strict review & control in place, we felt a lot of time can be saved especially when a new facility is under question. What we did was establishing a protocol, two-page ...

Re: AET & Tank Internal Inspection

As per my understanding, operators may run AET across dozens/hundreds of tanks, rank tanks by AE severity, extend low-risk tanks, open only high-risk candidates.
This is very common in refineries, terminals, petrochemical storage facilities, especially where shutdown cost is massive.

Re: TCG & DAC in Pulse Echo Testing

This is what I could add here:
You can display DAC without TCG, use TCG without traditional DAC evaluation, or combine both in advanced instruments.
And like Dlew said already, both are recognized by ASME.
And another practical difference is that With DAC, you usually do not alter gain during ...
