Re: Material in Sulfur environment
With the low sulphur % ,A106 Gr.B can be used to up to 250-260 Deg.C.However,it depends on which service it is going to be used.If there is a possibility of sulphur concentration i.e column bottom then better to go for low alloy steel P5 piping since your operating temperature is in the border case ...

Re: CONAM Inspection of Furnace Radiant Tubes
Eddy current test is not good for HP Mod material due to high mangenetic permeability.Better to continue with UT which is proven for the past 30 years.

Re: cement line piping integrity
I saw the presentation but the above technique is used for external concrete lined pipe and not internally cement lined pipe.Regarding answer to ben question the line size is 24",36" & 42".

cement line piping integrity
Is there any test method to find out the cement bonding strength/remnant life of cement lined piping header which is 30 years old?We are getting frequent leaks in the above header due to to lining failure and cement particle coming out from the header piping.Regualr UT scanning did n't help us to ...

Re: Welding / PWHT of dissimilar weld joints
No need for PWHT since the weld will be having homogenuous Austenite structure. But generally the designer wouldn't mix ASS with Alloy steel due to difference in thermal expansion and the weld will crack if it is used in high temperature service greater than 300 Deg.C

Re: Welding / PWHT of dissimilar weld joints
P5 to P9 Welding:-
Use P5 welding rod and carryout PWHT as per P9 requirements. Regarding joining P5 with 316 check the temperature and there is a limit for using 309L material in high sulphur process fluid according to API582.If that is the case it is better to carryout 316 buttering on P5 and weld ...

Flare line metallurgy
We are experiencing severe internal corrosion due to high H2S in the process stream and stagnant condition. The pipe material is API5LGR.B and the size is between 20"-42". As an alternate to combat internal corrosion we are thinking to use internally cladded pipe(CS+SS316L).Anyone has tried the ...

Re: Counter Weights - Thermal Expansion System @ Furnace
These counter weight are self supportive for the catalyst tubes and it takes care of tube movement also. Further, there is no mechanism involved and it is just a support. The designer specified the concrete based on thermal stresses during start-up and shutdown. Pigtail weld crack is very common in ...

Mobile scaffolding for piping inspection
Dear members,
Did any one tried mobile scaffolding (like forklift type) to inspect the piping in the plant piperack? If so which make/model is best suited for the above application.User feedback is highly appreciated.
with advance thanks,
