Re: Vibrations issues

From an operations perspective, some of the worst vibration problems are not caused by bad machinery — they are caused by process conditions quietly pushing the machine outside its stable operating envelope. A lot of vibration investigations stay too mechanical-focused (alignment, balancing ...

Re: Threaded joints failures

To me, there has to be some issue with the team working on these threaded joints.
Just look in this way, design issue, that cannot be occurring on all the locations and that too simultaneously and frequently.
Even if this is related to some operational issue, we do not expect this to happen the way ...

Re: Frequent pitting corrosion failures of carbamate pump

25.22.2 is the guy here to work all well. However its performance depends on maintaining a stable passive oxide layer.
In carbamate service, small oxygen content is intentionally maintained for passivation. If oxygen distribution becomes poor, localized active corrosion begins.
Common reasons ...

Re: API and non-API pumps

API pump is the one designed, manufactured, and tested according to API standards.
These are the pumps that follow API standards like:
API 610 - centrifugal pumps
API 674 - reciprocating pumps
They are built for HIGH pressure & HIGH temperature, handle flammable / toxic / corrosive fluids, strong ...

Re: Mothballing - Pumps Preservation Practices

Straight answer is that preservation is done through purging of dry air or nitrogen.

However, it depends as you have three major options:
Option A: Oil Flooding
Fill pump casing + internals with: rust preventive oil / inhibited mineral oil
Rotate shaft to coat all internals
Best for:
Centrifugal ...

Re: Type of Agitators - Service Based?

For installed units in a continuous process environment, maintenance focuses on the mechanical integrity of the drive train and the containment of the process fluid.
We tend to perform the following 4 maintain activities:
Lubrication Management: Frequent oil analysis of the gearbox to check for ...

Re: Critical Factors - Lifting Plan

There is a criteria of the crane lift capacity as well when lifted load falls with 75-90% of that.
Or when you are lifting a high value asset.
Or when two or more cranes are involved.
In these cases, including an independent verifier is important.
