Re: Burn Pit - Important Design Considerations

In oil & gas practice, burn pit design is typically guided by API RP 521, API Standard 537, and NFPA 30.
Over and above these, applied environmental regulatory guidance is considered.
This now depends on your actual data whether the burn pit is over-design or under-designed.

Re: International References for Flaring & Emissions Control

The most defensible compliance stack globally:
  • API 521 + ISO 23251
    IFC EHS Guidelines
    ISO 14064 (GHG accounting)
    IOGP methane framework
World Bank Zero Routine Flaring principles

Re: OTJ Practices

Over & above what International reommended practices ask for, Companies have developed their own internal policies where an off-the-job incident is required to be shared to enhance learning & adopting best safe practices. Reporting is required to be done as and when such an incident happens ...

Re: PI Software - Data Capabilities - Control Valve

Valve position trigger needs to be set > 90 for 10 minutes to avoid any spikes.
Create event frame when:
Valve near limit
Controller output saturated
PV deviates while valve fully open
This produces:
automatic logs
time stamps
duration
frequency
Eventually generate ranked constraint report.

Identification of drillstring tool failure

Identifying drillstring or downhole tool failures early is critical because the first subtle signs often appear at surface before a catastrophic event like a twist-off, stuck pipe, or BHA loss occurs. What are the good practices here to identify that well in time?

Re: Predicting ESP Failure

Appreciate luca.

There can be four type of failures which can affect ESP:
1. Electrical
Motor winding burnout can happen. Insulation breakdown itself can happen, some cable damages or short circuits.
2. Mechanical
Shaft breakage happens, wear of bearing can occur, impeller damage or the coupling ...

Re: Controlling Amine Ratio

That is the pretty straight forward answer provided by tuan.
However, there are factors affecting the ratio even if the feed ratio is kept in control.
Like this is a highly exothermic reaction, and with drift in the temperature, ratio gets affected leading to secondary amine formation.

Re: Operating Pressure Basis - Distillation Tower

Actually, there are process design basis deciding upon selecting the right operating pressure for distillation tower.
Factors which are required to be considered include the following:
a. Separation requirements (vapor liquid equilibrium) - pressure affects the boiling point
b. Condenser & cooling ...

Re: Coiled Tubing & Role of Operations Engineer

It is the review of JSA, and monitoring of well control readiness.
In. monitoring, following comes to be taken care of:
Pump pressure
Tubing weight & forces
Depth & speed
Wellhead pressure
